Samuel Love, a free man of color, represents that he "hath by the blessing of divine providence and his honest industry and care, acquired some property both real and personal." He further confides that it is his wish "to be authorized by law to dispose of his said property by last Will and Testament or otherwise as the case may be, and that his Samuel may be legitimated by an act of your honourable body."
