They represent that the said Christopher, a free man of color, purchased Charity and Peggy in 1812 and that this past fall "the said Christopher procured the emancipation of his wife but the presiding Judge declined decreeing the emancipation of the children -- deeming them on account of their tender years not within the meaning of the Act of Assembly."  The petitioners therefore pray "that the case of said Christopher may be taken into consideration and that his said two children may be emancipated."
