Daniel Macay, a forty-five-year-old slave held by William S. Macay, represents "that it is his anxious wish and desire to become a Free man." He reports that "by means of great exertion and industry he has been able to acquire enough money (without at all neglecting his duty to his master,) to pay for himself." The petitioner therefore prays "that your Honorable body will permit him to be emancipated, according to the wish of his master, and on such terms as your Honorable body will prescribe."
