Petition #11283608

Abstract

James S. Green seeks the freedom "of a certain Mulatto Slave named James, and known generally by the name of James Hostler aged about 22 years." Green represents that John M. Gabie bequeathed said slave to him until James "should arrive at the age of twenty one years, with the expressed condition that, at that time, the said James should be manumitted or set free by your Petitioner." Green, "anxious to carry into effect the provision of said Will in respect to the said Mulatto slave James," does "earnestly pray" that the said James, who had "the fair prospect of Freedom set before him from his childhood," be emancipated and set free.

Result: Rejected.
