Seventeen women ask that Malinda Carmon's slave Betty, "aged about Sixty years or upwards," be emancipated. They represent that "said slave has from her childhood been in the family of Mrs Carmon, and has been of good character, faithful, obedient, and submissive & she has rendered meritorious and praiseworthy service." Noting that Betty "is the mother of Seventeen children," the petitioners pray "that your Hon body will pass an act emancipating said Betty."
