Abstract
John Mathews and William Lester, executors of the estate of Isaac Mathews, seek compensation for "a valuable young negro man drowned in Black River, on the day the said negro attended to do public work on the said river." The petitioners "Pray that your Honorable body would take this their humble Petition into consideration, and grant to the heirs of the said Isaac Mathews such compensation, for said negro, as in your wisdom and justice shall seem equitable."
