Thirteen residents of Greene County represent that "a free Black man by the name of Hensey Wade a Carpenter and Joinner [by] trade Labours under a verry greate disadvantage on accounte of his not Being allowed to proove his accounte by his oath." Noting that some have taken "advantage of him on that accounte," the petitioners pray that the said Wade "be allowed to prove his accounte respecting his dealing."
