Seventy-two residents of Davidson County praise Loo, "a man of colour formerly the property of W B Lewis." They "certify that he is a person of correct deportment" and that "he is of humble and respectful manners and has sustained a good character as a slave and having purchased his own freedom as well as that of his wife and child." They therefore "hope he may be liberated without being compelled to leave the State."
