George's widow remarried the next year, but her new husband was so poor a manager of the "Planting Co-partnership" that John Dean dissolved the partnership and divided the slaves. Seventy-five-year-old Dean believes, however, that he can "only get a legal title to the Testators moiety or half part" of the property by a special act of the legislature. He asks for an act "to settle said Estate under the direction of the County court."Veterans
