William Anderson represents that "a young negro fellow the Property of yr Petitioner was executed" in 1777 "for the wilful murder of his fellow Servant & was valued by the sd. Court to 95£ a Sum which yr. petitioner thinks insufficient to purchase another of equal value." He therefore prays that he receive an adequate allowance to compensate him for "the Loss he has sustained in being deprived of a valuable young fellow being brought up to the Business of shoemaking and coopering."
