Abstract
In December 1812, Jenny Parker's owner, Josiah Wilson, died, bequeathing Jenny her freedom. One of her children had long since been emancipated, Jenny explains, and owns real estate, personal property, and two of her other children. Now "advanced in years," Jenny Parker asks for permission to remain in Virginia, with her children and friends.
Result: Rejected.
