Guy and his sister Genney and her children represent that they "are Negros Slaves that did belong to the Estate of Judah Shoemaker Decd" and that "we was Set Free by her Last will from Slavery." They further assert that the said Shoemaker gave "all her Land and other property belonging to her to her slaves." Noting that they "wish to Live on our Land that was given to us by our Mistress," the petitioners therefore "Beg your Honourable Body to pass a Law that we may have the Liberty to Continue in this state.”
