Jack Paul, emancipated by the will of Jane Paul, represents that he "is exceedingly anxious to remain in this Commonwealth" as he married "previous to his emancipation" a female slave "to whom he is Sincerely & faithfully attached." The petitioner therefore prays "that leave be given him to Remain within state Either for a limited or unlimited period." Paul hopes "by honest labour & some little means bequeathed him by his decd mistress" he will be able to purchase his wife.
