In his last will and testament, the late James Ross prescribed that the wages earned from hiring out his blacksmith, Ben Hord, be partly retained by Ben and partly remitted to Ben's mother, Rebecca West; and that Ben should be emancipated. Now Ben Hord and sixty-four citizens of Middlesex County petition the legislature to ask that, after emancipation, Ben be allowed to remain in the state. They inform the court that neither Rebecca West nor the executors of James Ross's will have any claim on Ben.
Result: Reasonable.
