In his will, Nathaniel Bunch directed that his slaves should be freed and sent to another state or to Liberia. Bunch subsequently died in 1833. One of his former slaves, Adam, asks to remain in the state where he currently resides with his wife and three children "to whom he feels the strongest attachment." He informs the court that he is "capable of supporting himself, and of rendering much service to his neighbourhood."
Result: Rejected.
