Three creditors of Thomas Whiting, a free black who died in 1838, ask the legislature to authorize the sale of Whiting's house and a lot in Berryville to pay his debts. Whiting left no heirs who were free, only a few slave grandchildren. His property should therefore go to those who have claims against the estate.
