Forty-six residents of Giles County support the petition of Amy Beasly, recently emancipated, to remain in the state with her husband and eleven children. The residents vouch for her character and morals; some of them have known her "for more than forty years." They declare that the said Amy has been respected "by her masters & all who knew her to a greater extent than any servant they have ever known." The petitioners "desire that the Legislature may grant her permission to remain in the Commonwealth among her children."
