Petition #21385434

Abstract

Hannah Abrahams and her husband, Alexander Abrahams, seek to sell her trust estate slave. In 1846, Hannah's brother, A. J. Moses, "for the consideration of one thousand dollars sold and delivered to Isaiah Moses, your Petitioner's Father in Trust for the only use of your Petitioner four negroes." Hannah now informs the court that "she has lately been offered by a free woman of Color, named Sarah Field in exchange for the negro Sancho a house and Lot in Henrietta Street in the City of Charleston, valued at about one thousand dollars and three hundred dollars in Cash." The petitioners wish to accept the offer, which they believe to be "Judicious & profitable," and they therefore pray that the court direct her trustee to make such an exchange.
