Abstract

Thomas Brown died possessed of a sizeable estate, including a large number of slaves. In his will he said that Mary Brown should receive her share of his estate "whenever She should marry or arrive at age of twenty one years." Mary Brown married Thomas W. Oliver, and Thomas B. Brown, Mary's trustee, asks for her "distributive portion."
