Abstract
John Pendleton, a free man of color, has been found by a lower court to be guilty of moving into Arkansas without giving due notice of his status, or providing a security bond "in case he should at any time thereafter be unable to support himself." Pendleton is appealing to the Supreme Court, asking that the case be dismissed based on errors in the lower court's proceedings and because the "act of the legislature, upon [which] the indictment in this case was found, was unconstitutional and void."
