The petitioners, heirs by right of their wives and legal representatives of the late James Erwin, ask the court to require Arthur Thompson, administrator of Erwin's estate, to turn over to them "money and personal property as he may have in his hands not needed to pay the debts and expenses." They also ask that the slaves allotted to them in an earlier suit be delivered: including Jobe, Vina, Eliza, Louisa, Charlotte, Letty, Ben, Ann, Clory, Fanny and her child. In a related petition, we learn that Fanny's child's name was Emma or Emeline. A number of other slaves belonging to Erwin's estate have also be allotted to his widow, Frances, as her dower.
