Nehemiah Burroughs states that he "was bound an apprentice to Jacob Hazzard" for eleven and a half years in 1811 "without the assent of himself or of his father." Burroughs recounts that he has since been "sold" three times and is now held by George Truitt. The petitioner contends that "the original binding and subsequent sales of him are unlawful." He therefore prays that he may be "discharged from the said Indenture and from the Service of the said George Truitt."
