Abstract
Jane Millis, a woman of color, states that William Spear holds and claims her as a slave. Apprehending "that she is entitled to her freedom," Millis asks that Spear be summoned "to answer the said complaint of your Petitioner." One of Jane's owners testified that she probably poisoned his horses and threatened to put his wife "out of the way."
