Petition #20480501

Abstract

John Templeman, a boat owner, is asking for an injunction to stay the execution of a judgment ruled against him in favor of William Wilson. Templeman hired slaves from George North & Company to work on boats transporting iron to that company's furnace. He then credited $146.66 compensation for the labor to the account of George North & Company, a business owned by North, William Wilson and others. Wilson, however, claimed that the slaves were "his seperate property and contending that their hire ought not to have been blended with the account of George North & Co."
