Nace Humphreys, who has a petition for his freedom "still pending and undecided," claims that he was "arrested, handcuffed and put into a vessel to be transported down the river Potomac & beyond the jurisdiction of this court...." He petitions the court for an injunction preventing "his removal out of this County & District." Humphreys does not identify the person or persons who hold him in bondage and whom he named in his freedom suit. He does charge the defendants in this suit as being "the agents in this attempt upon him" to remove him from DC.
