Robert Beale seeks to settle a title dispute regarding Rachel, a slave. Beale was appointed by Benjamin Berry, deceased, as trustee of a life estate for Eleanour Berry. Beale states that Eleanour Berry, without legal authority, sold the estate's cattle, sheep, and hogs along with twenty of the slaves, including Rachel. Rachel was sold to Henry Waring, who has since sold Rachel "by some pretended bargain and contract with Franklin and Armfield," a large domestic slave trading business. Beale seeks an injunction preventing Eleanour Berry, Waring, and Franklin and Armfield from removing Rachel from the jurisdiction of the court and asks the court to subpoena all of the defendants.
