Petition #20483808

Abstract

Bennet Biscoe asserts that his son-in-law, Edward Sullivan, executed an unauthorized sale of a slave named Jane and her three children to slave trader William H. Richards. Biscoe charges that these slaves were sold well below their market value, and he fears that he will be unable to recover them once they are sold. He seeks an injunction preventing Sullivan and Richards from removing or selling Jane and her children beyond the jurisdiction of the court and asks that the defendants be summoned to answer his complaint.

Result: Dismissed.
