Crawford states that she has paid Scott $159 and is now able to pay her the remaining $21. However, Scott has had her arrested and is planning to sell Crawford as a slave for life beyond the jurisdiction of the court. Crawford asserts that she has a petition for her freedom pending in court and seeks an injunction to prevent Scott from selling her beyond the limits of the District of Columbia.
<subjects><subject>owner(s)/citizens manumit/free slave</subject><subject>Sues for freedom (enslaved)</subject><subject>Purchase of freedom</subject><subject>Virtually free (enslaved)</subject><subject>Jails/Workhouses</subject><subject>Freedom seekers</subject><subject>Purchase/Sale prices (enslaved)</subject></subjects></petition>
