Abstract
Joshua Cryer, through his next friend and mother, Winney Cryer, avers that he has filed a petition for his freedom and is now illegally held in slavery by Elizabeth Cocke and Peter Hoffman. Cryer, fearing that they may sell him as a slave for life beyond the jurisdiction of the court, seeks an injunction to prevent such an action.
