The petitioners, heirs of Francis Pellicer, ask the court to order an inventory of his estate, which includes at least twenty-four slaves, and to replace the current administrator, Francis Pellicer the younger. They reveal that the said administrator has not "filed an Inventory of any debts and claims that may exist against the estate." They further state that each of them has become "possessed of a specific share or portion of said negroes and cattle in virtue of the division so had." Apprehensive that their property "will be made liable for said debts and claims,” the petitioners pray that Pellicer be required "to render an account of his proceedings and administrating of the said estate" and that he "be prevented by an order of your Honors ... from farther administrating said estate."
