Petition #20585101
- Marion County, Florida. filing started March 18, 1851.
- Court: Circuit
- Salutation: To the Hon Thomas Douglas Judge of the Circuit Court for the Eastern Circuit of Florida
Abstract
James and Frances H. Piles and Thomas and Mary Ann Barnes ask the court to divide the estate of William T. Barnes, which includes slaves, equally among the heirs. The plaintiffs state that the widow and administratrix of the estate, Francis Barnes, "has set apart to her as her dower portion" certain slaves and property, but has not made a division of the remaining estate. They further charge that the administratrix has received payment for the hire of slaves who are not a part of her dower portion. They also want a division of these assets.
