Susan Linde Van Hantsckee petitions for a divorce and control of the property she held before her marriage to Joseph Augustus Linde Van Hantsckee. Susan states that prior to her marriage she owned "a comfortable dwelling house ... several valuable servants and was the possessor of Six Bonds of the State of Kentucky in the sum of one thousand dollars each." She charges that Joseph traveled to Poland in 1853, in the company of Louisa Fontane, whom he presented to his parents in Germany as his wife. When he returned to Florida with Louisa, he introduced her to Susan as his cousin. Charging that her husband has appropriated her six bonds, the petitioner asks that he be compelled to answer her charges and to return the said bonds. Susan further prays that it may "further please your Honor to decree unto your orator the possession of all her said Real and personal Estate possessed by her before said marriage."
