Abstract
William Johnson owned an adult female slave named Winney, valued at $500, whom he casually lost. Winney later came into the possession of William Legget. Johnson alleges that Legget knew that the slave belonged to him. However, he "converted and disposed of the Said Negro to his own use." Johnson sues for $1,000 in damages.
