Robert Thompson sues John O. Grant for $1,000 in damages. He alleges that Grant, with intent to injure him, accused him of having alerted one James Hayes that a warrant had been issued against him for illegally introducing slaves into the state. As a result of Grant's accusations, Thompson was arrested and detained in jail for forty-eight hours. Thompson states that although the prosecution has ended, he has sustained "great damage."
