John Wilson, administrator of the estate of the late Peyton Smith, sues Nancy Smith for $20,000 in damages. The estate consisted of eleven slaves, collectively worth $7,000, and other property. Wilson claims that he "casually lost" this property, which came into the possession of Nancy Smith. Wilson alleges that Smith knew to whom the property belonged, but with intent to deceive and defraud him, has not returned the property and has "converted & disposed of said negroes [and other property] to her own use." Wilson sues for damages.
