Abstract
James Freeman claims that was the owner of three slaves, each valued at $1,000. He alleges that he "casually lost" the slaves, who came into the possession of Robert Allison. Freeman contends that Allison knew that the slaves belonged to him, but has refused to deliver them. Moreover, Freeman claims, the defendant has "Converted the Said Negroes to his own use." He sues for $3,000 in damages.
