Francis Jett is the administrator of Thomas Lee's estate. In this capacity, he was the owner of five slaves, valued at $2,700, collectively. He claims that he "casually lost" the slaves; the latter came into the possession of Oliver Porter. Jett alleges that Porter knew the slaves belonged to the estate, but "craftily and fraudulently ... [did] convert and dispose said negroes to his own use." Jett sues for $4,000 in damages.
