Abstract
James R. Conyers was the owner of a slave named Sam, valued at $600. He claims that he "casually lost" the slave, and the latter came into the possession of John Conyers. James Conyers alleges that John Conyers knew that the slave belonged to him, "but hath converted and disposed of the said negro slave, Sam to his own use & benefit." James Conyers sues for damages of $1,000 in damages.
Result: Dismissed.
