Petition #20682605

Abstract

Littleberry B. Phillips, by the right of his wife Elizabeth, was the owner of a "negro girl slave by the name of Milley," valued at $500. He apparently lost her, and she was found by William Gallaway. Phillips alleges that Gallaway knew that the slave belonged to him, but kept the slave and "converted the said Negro Girl Slave to his own use." Phillips claims damages of $1000 and asks that Gallaway appear at the next Superior Court session to answer him “in an action of Trover and Conversion.”

Result: Granted.
