- Elbert County, Georgia. cicra 1829. - March 25, 1831.
- Court: Superior
- Salutation: To the Honorable William H. Crawford Judge of the Superior Courts of the Northern Circuit, in chancery presiding
Abstract
Micajah L. Anthony is the guardian for William A. Stokes, a minor and heir to the estate of the late William A. Stokes; Eliza Stokes Lowrey is the widow and other heir. Stokes's will divided his estate between Eliza and his son. Archibald Stokes, as executor of the estate that included twenty-one slaves, retained the use of the slaves "untill a division of the same was had." Anthony asks that Stokes be compelled to provide an annual inventory of said estate and to deliver to him, as guardian, the slaves and other property belonging to his ward. As Stokes has not cooperated, Anthony asks the court to intervene on his behalf.
Result: Granted; appealed.
