Amelia Sowell agreed to purchase Betty for $200 from John L. Martin. She alleges that Martin was guilty of "fraudulently warranting the said negro woman to be well & sound." Sowell contends that Betty "was at the time of said sale & warranty unsound and unwell & not able to do any work & was wholly unacquainted with cooking, washing or ironing, & was at the time of said sale & now continues of no value." Sowell sues Martin for $200 in damages.
