Abstract

Elkanah Talley, administrator of Ann Anderson's estate, alleges that James Anderson owes $160 to the estate for the hire in 1829 of two slaves: forty-year-old George and fifty-year-old Susan. The petitioner also charges that Anderson is indebted to the estate "in one other sum of one hundred and sixty dollars for nine hundred pounds of Gin cotton." Noting that Anderson "hath hitherto refused" to pay either debt, the petitioner prays for $300 in damages.

Result: Dismissed.
