Hamutal Johnson alleges that Samuel Stanton and Wiley Patterson owe her $37.34, plus interest, for the hire of a slave named Rose. In addition to the hire, Johnson claims that the defendants agreed to furnish Rose "Summer and Winter clothes during the said year, pay the Taxes & expenses of sickness" and return her on 25 December 1830. Charging that Stanton and Patterson have refused to pay said sum, the petitioner seeks $100 in damages.
