John Couper states that he and Raymond Demere Jr. were appointed executors of the estate of the late Raymond Demere. Couper informs the court that his co-executor, without his consent, assumed management of the inheritance of his minor sons, Lewis, John, and Paul. Upon the death of Raymond Demere Jr., the defendant Joseph Demere "assumed the entire control and management of the Estate of the Said Lewis John and Paul Demere without in any further manner consulting your Petitioner." Couper asserts that Joseph Demere has taken twelve slaves belonging to the minors and has used them on his plantation; he has also sold, as his own, forty bales of cotton belonging to the boys. Couper asks the court to secure the rights and titles of the minors.
