Abstract
Francis Drake alleges that Henry R. Rogers and David F. Wilson are indebted to him for $120, plus interest. The debt was incurred "for the hire of a negro man Sam." The defendants were also to provide clothing and a blanket for Sam and to pay the taxes associated with the slave. They also promised to "not work him on boats in the River nor in the gold mines." Drake contends that the defendants have not honored their financial obligation. Drake sues for $200 in damages.
