- Elbert County, Georgia. filing started circa 1835.
- Court: Superior
- Salutation: To the Honorable Garnett Andrews Judge of the Superior Court of the Northern Circuit of said State by virtue when of exercising jurisdiction in Chancery
Abstract
When he died, Elizabeth Blackwell's husband, Banks, left a large estate that included over forty slaves. As executor, William Jones took possession of the estate, including "evidences of Debts amounting in all to the sum of Sixty thousand dollars or some other large sum of money." Blackwell says that, despite the sale of real and personal property, some debts remain unsettled. She accuses Jones of mismanaging assets and asks the court to require him to inventory the estate and "to come to a full fair and honest settlement with your Oratrix."
