Petition #20684313

Abstract

Eliza Williams, executrix of the estate of Wilson Williams, deceased, states that Wilson Williams and James Herring were co-partners in the sale of slaves and horses. In 1836, they purchased a large number of slaves and horses for the total sum of $30,000. They sold the horses for $6,000 and the slaves were carried to Mississippi or another western state and sold for $36,000. Williams avers that Wilson died shortly after the sale and Herring became the sole manager of their business, collecting the money from the sale of the slaves and horses. Herring refuses to give Wilson Williams's share of the profits to Eliza Williams. She seeks a full and fair settlement of the proceeds.

Result: Dismissed.
