They executed a title for the slaves in Gates's name and warranted the slaves.  Gates avers that at the time of the sale, and unbeknownst to him, Emily was \"sick and diseased & unsound.\"  She died shortly after the sale.  Gates contends that he spent $200 in medical expenses for Emily.
