John Laidler, administrator of the estates of John Laidler Sr. and Hamilton A. Laidler, Patrick Smith, trustee of Elizabeth Smith, and Watkins Laidler ask the court to appoint "Free Holders" to equally divide the remainder of the estate, consisting of slaves. The petitioners desire that the slave families not be broken up and tell the court that they are willing to balance the division of the slaves with other money so that slave families don't have to be divided.
