Asa Barnes asks that he be appointed guardian of Ephraim Barnes, on the grounds that Ephraim Barnes is non compos mentis. Asa also asks the court to appoint eighteen "discreet and proper" persons, including a physician, "to examine by inspection the person of said Ephraim Barnes and to hear and examine witnesses on oath if necessary as to the condition of said Ephraim Barnes and his capacity to manage his estate."
